Everyone's got one!

Some are cool, some are crude.

Attitudes!

Attitude is simply a conscious choice that drives your physical learning and behaviors.

Here's an example: you can choose to follow up on opportunities and you can choose not to.

Why is that so? When you tell yourself not to follow up, it could be because…

* You don't want to seem pushy
* You're too busy
* It's too hard to get dressed and go out
* You're not sure what to say
* You're afraid of getting rejected

It's attitude that takes over.

Here's what the Harvard Business School found in a study about top salespeople and top producers:

* they don't take "no" personally
* they accept 100% responsibility for their results
* they don't blame the economy, competition, product
* they spend the bulk of their time on priorities
* they put themselves in their customers' shoes
* are self-disciplined and persistent
* are honest with themselves and the customer
* They have adopted an attitude of moving forward no matter what!

How many of the above elements could you relate to?

Now it's time to examine your old notions and bring awareness to them. Awareness may be all you need to dissolve an old pattern or belief.

First, ask yourself, why would you want to heal them?

If you're struggling making basic ends meet, you might want to heal a pattern that keeps you from earning more.

If you're constantly fighting with the very person you love, you might want to heal a pattern that keeps you from enjoying company.

If you're sick and tired, you might want to heal a pattern that keeps you from healthy and vibrant.

It all boils down to making an attitude adjustment!

Here's an action step you could take to make an adjustment:

Take a pen a paper and write your list of old fears and beliefs. See examples above.

Now examine this list and decide if they are true for you right now.

Replace any of these with positive statements or affirmations that resonate as true for you. For example if you've been repeating "I'm a failure at everything!" replace it with "I am successful in these areas in my life (fill in the blanks)."

With each item you became aware of, ask yourself how true are they right now. It's time to look at that belief and decide once and for all if it's serving you or hindering you. It can be that simple.

That's attitude adjustment! Great job!

Love your action steps to adjust your attitudes Patricia, very practical and helpful advice.  As for the findings in the Harvard study, I love them! I can relate to them all, although learning not to take "no"personally was the hardest one for me!

Great post!  Really like the fact that some of the top salespeople don't take "no" personally. I have found this to be key as an entrepreneur…you just gotta keep moving forward knowing that your ideal client is out there and loves what you do!  Thanks for sharing!

Love the idea of writing it down. It's like a 4th step and extremely effective to letting things go.

Great blueprint for adjusting one's attitude! I find working with children the quickest way to replace the negative with positive is to help them understand and FEEL gratitude for what already is! Thanks for sharing this important information!
